Continuing this trend of visual juxtaposition between the East and West in my other works (American Child, Last Time In New York), I took inspiration from the curbside restaurants of Vietnam, putting it somewhere it’ll be painfully out of place: a subway station in New York. The set up is a blend of classic Vietnamese and classic American visual identifiers, creating a sense of confusion that mimics identity crisis of immigrants in America. At the same time, it is a tribute to New York City.

Real-life type taken around NYC
Typographic elements are photographed, isolated in photoshop, then composed into individual words clips to mimic typewriter effect and add another layer of motion to the video. There are 1-6 clips for every word that appears in the song, totaling unique 118 clips.

Experimental positioning and attitudes around the concept of an Asian snack vendor.
